Vertiv Enters Into Partnership With Pinnacle ICT

Vertiv has entered into a distribution partnership with Pinnacle ICT that will expand access to its power, cooling and IT infrastructure solutions across the Southern African Development Community (SADC) region. The partnership will see Pinnacle ICT distribute selected Vertiv solutions to traditional channel partners, systems integrators, managed service providers and enterprise customers. Selected products will also be made available through online retail channels for organisations looking to procure standard infrastructure products. The agreement comes as organisations across the region continue investing in data centres, cloud computing, artificial intelligence (AI), edge computing and broader digital transformation initiatives, increasing demand for supporting power and cooling infrastructure.“Our distribution partnership with Pinnacle ICT extends the reach of Vertiv’s portfolio through a well-established channel organisation with the technical expertise, market presence and partner ecosystem needed to help customers across the region to enable current and future digitalisation needs,” explains Henry Myburgh, senior regional account manager: Southern Africa at Vertiv.Pinnacle ICT said the partnership forms part of its strategy to expand its enterprise technology portfolio and respond to changing infrastructure requirements among organisations in the region.“As organisations continue investing in AI, cloud, edge computing and digital transformation across the SADC region, they are increasingly looking for integrated infrastructure solutions rather than individual technologies. Vertiv is recognised globally as a leader in critical digital infrastructure, offering solutions spanning power protection and distribution, thermal management, racks and enclosures, as well as infrastructure monitoring and management, making it an excellent fit for our enterprise portfolio,” says Richard Lace, business unit manager at Pinnacle ICT.Under the partnership, Pinnacle ICT will provide services including pre-sales consulting, infrastructure design, solution architecture, product sizing, technical enablement and logistics, alongside ongoing support for channel partners. The companies said the distribution arrangement will serve organisations across sectors including government, financial services, healthcare, education, mining, cloud services, managed services and data centre operations. The partnership also reflects the growing infrastructure requirements associated with AI workloads. AI deployments can place greater demands on data centre power, thermal management and physical infrastructure, making these components an increasingly important part of organisations’ digital infrastructure strategies.“We see significant long-term potential for this partnership,” Lace concludes. “Our focus is on building a Vertiv partner ecosystem across the SADC region through investment in skills, technical enablement and channel development, while helping our channel partners to gain from growing opportunities in AI-ready infrastructure and digital transformation.”

Gachagua Alleges Secret Sh8.2T Minerals Deal Behind Ruto’s US Trip

Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) leader Rigathi Gachagua has accused President William Ruto of using his attendance at the 81st United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) as a cover to finalize a secretive Ksh8.2 trillion minerals agreement with an American firm. Addressing Kenyans in the diaspora on Saturday, September 19, Gachagua asserted that President Ruto’s travel to New York was primarily motivated by mineral exploitation deals rather than diplomatic assembly sessions. “William Ruto is in the air on his way to New York for the United Nations General Assembly, UNGA. But that is not his mission. That is just a camouflage. He will go there, take a few pictures, give a few speeches, and meet a few presidents and others,” Gachagua said. Focus on Kwale County’s Mrima Hill Mineral Reserves Gachagua alleged that the agreement centers on the extraction of high-value niobium and rare earth mineral deposits located at Mrima Hill in Kwale County. “His real mission in the United States is to come and seal a deal with Americans on how niobium will be exploited from Kenya,” Gachagua claimed. The former Deputy President asserted that while the mineral deposits carry an estimated valuation of Ksh 8.2 trillion, the proposed terms would yield minimal financial returns for the Kenyan public. Instead, he alleged that proceeds from the mining rights would be split between the American corporate...

ODM Got Sh200M as Treasury Approved Sh276.76B in Extra Spending

A massive Sh276.76 billion emergency expenditure under Article 223 has funded everything from State House operations and multi-agency security sweeps to major infrastructure projects and a Sh200 million court award for the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) during the 2025–26 financial year. Details of the extensive spending appear in an annex to the Controller of Budget’s (CoB) National Government Budget Implementation Review Report for the year ended June 2026. The report documents Sh209.99 billion in recurrent expenditure and Sh66.77 billion in development expenditure approved by the National Treasury. Out of these requests, Controller of Budget Margaret Nyakang’o authorized actual withdrawals of Sh187.90 billion for recurrent needs and Sh21.47 billion for development projects. These figures offer a rare look at how aggressively government agencies relied on Article 223 to bypass traditional budget approval timelines for operational expenses, debt obligations, infrastructure, and national events. The Sh200 Million ODM Political Funding Settlement Among the most politically charged approvals, the Office of the Registrar of Political Parties requested Sh200 million for the Orange Democratic Movement. The CoB schedule notes that the funds aimed “to cater for a request by the ODM party in relation to the Petition for Outstanding Court Award for Political Parties Fund.” The Nationa...

Gachagua Warns of New Plan to Divide Mt Kenya After CS Ruku’s Axe Ceremony

Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) Leader Rigathi Gachagua claimed Deputy President Kithure Kindiki and Public Service Cabinet Secretary Geoffrey Ruku were abandoning an alleged strategy to divide the Mt Kenya region after face-to-face opposition from local residents. Taking to X, Gachagua claimed that government allies tasked with splitting the region were forced to retreat after the local populace firmly rejected their efforts. “I have woken up to the happenings back home that the two mischievous characters assigned by Mr. William Ruto to divide the mountain have given up after the residents of the region rejected their attempts in total,” Gachagua alleged. The former deputy president further accused the State of spending public funds over the last two years on a failed mission to fragment the region’s vote. “The efforts to divide the mountain using stolen cash for the last two years have failed flat,” he said. The Symbolic Axe Ceremony at Kirigiti Stadium Gachagua’s comments follow an elder-led unity gathering at Kirigiti Stadium in Kiambu County, where DP Kindiki met with elders representing the Kikuyu, Embu, and Meru communities. During the event, DP Kindiki called on CS Ruku to hand over a symbolic axe, previously presented as an emblem representing division within Mt Kenya, back to the elders. After relinquishing the axe, elders handed Ruku a flywhisk, symbolizing a...

Iran’s economy has long struggled with hyperinflation and devaluation of its currency, caused in large part by economic sanctions.TEHRAN - Iran’s economy contracted by more than 10 per cent during the Middle East war, which began with US-Israeli attacks in late February. The country’s gross domestic product (GDP) shrank by 10.1 per cent year-on-year from late March to late June, a period known in Iran as the first quarter of the Persian calendar, according to the Statistical Center of Iran on Sept 20.Iran has been at war with the United States since late February, when US-Israeli strikes killed the Islamic republic’s supreme leader and senior military officials at the start of a vast offensive. The strikes sparked Tehran’s retaliation in blocking the Strait of Hormuz – causing global oil prices to surge – as the conflict spread in the Middle East.Aside from this, Iran’s economy has long struggled with hyperinflation and devaluation of its currency, caused in large part by economic sanctions.
