Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has issued a statement claiming to know critical details regarding the recent abduction of Standard Media Group Associate Editor Alex Kiprotich. Kiprotich was accosted by armed assailants along the Gilgil–Nakuru Road on Tuesday night before being dumped near Masinga Dam early Wednesday morning. According to Gachagua, Kiprotich was preparing an investigative exposé detailing how funds intended for thousands of Mau evictees from the Kipsigis community were allegedly looted. The Democracy for the Citizens (DCP) party leader alleged that National Government Administration officials orchestrated the scheme under the direction of Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen and Raymond Omollo, routing funds through brokers and proxies. “Alex was to publish an exposé giving a blow-by-blow account of how the funds have been stolen, leaving the evictees helpless and in anguish,” Gachagua stated.
