Read briefing President William Ruto has announced plans to establish a KSh 1.2 billion university in Emurua Dikirr Constituency, Narok County, in honor of the region’s late Member of Parliament Johana Ng’eno. Speaking at the Mamboleo Modern Market on the second day of his development tour in Narok County, Ruto shared that the institution will fulfill a request made directly by local residents while expanding access to higher education across the region and country. “You asked me as residents of Emurua Dikirr that you want a university. Today, I have brought you Sh1.2 billion to construct a university for Emurua Dikirr, which will be named after our brother Johana Ng’eno,” Ruto told attendees. The President noted that the university would help children from Emurua Dikirr and other parts of Kenya pursue higher studies. Ng’eno served as the area MP until his death alongside five others in a helicopter crash in Chepkiep, Mosop Constituency, Nandi County, on February 28, 2026. During the 12th Parliament, he sat on the Justice and Legal Affairs Committee, and later led the Housing Committee, playing a central role in guiding the passage of the Affordable Housing Act, 2024.
