The Nairobi City Water and Sewerage Company Ltd has announced a scheduled shutdown of the Sasumua Water Treatment Plant to enable emergency repair works along the Sasumua-Kabete pipeline. The planned outage will run from Friday, September 11, 2026, at 6:00 a.m. to Saturday, September 12, 2026, at 8:00 a.m. The company has urged customers in the affected areas to store enough water ahead of time and to use available supplies sparingly throughout the shutdown period. In Westlands and Lavington, service interruptions will affect Riverside Drive, Chalbi Drive, Convent Drive, Gitanga Road, Kunde Road, Hedred, Mbaazi, Masanduku, Leloghi Gardens, Ole Ndume Road, King’ara Road, Riara Road, and nearby areas. In Kileleshwa, the interruption will impact Kandara Road, Gichugu Road, Mazeras Road, Mbooni Road, Othaya Road, Kaputei, Laikipia Road, Githunguri, DoD, St George’s School, Tembere Road, and surrounding areas. In Kibera and surrounding areas, the company says the shutdown will affect Makina, Karanja Road and nearby locations, Fort Jesus, Olympic, Kibera Kianda, parts of Gatwekera, parts of Ayany, Kibera Mwembeni, Makongeni environs, Kwa DC, Lindi, the KEMRI Flats along Mbagathi Way, and Highrise Estate.
